VLADDY POSTSEASON PUSH

Nicholas D'Agostino

Now is the time for Vladdy of last season. Vladimir Guerrero Jr has had a good season but to most fans it may seem underwhelming because of how good of a season he had just a year ago. Vlad has 31 home runs and 96 RBIs which is nothing to dismiss but at no point this season have we seen Vladdy as locked in as he was last year. Since the end of August, Bichette has looked like a completely different hitter and if the Jays want to make some noise in the playoffs, now is the time for Vladdy to turn it on.

As the final stretch of the season is upon us it is the perfect time for Vladdy to turn into the MVP calibre hitter everyone saw he can be when he is at the top of his game. Vlad possesses elite level talent that can carry any offence for an extended period of time and what better time than the last few games before the playoffs.

Last season, Vladdy was able to go on multiple hot streaks where no pitcher could seem to get him out but this season he hasn’t really gone on any of those stretches. There is no doubt that this season Guerrero has gotten on hot streaks but he hasn’t brought that same bat to the table like he didn a year ago.

For me personally, if the Jays want to have success in the playoffs Vlad is the one that can take them to the promised land. Like I said before he has the talent to carry any offence and if he can do so the Jays would turn into a whole different beast. Luckily, because the Jays are one of the best offensive teams in the MLB they don’t need Guerrero to carry the offence because they have many other offensive weapons like Bo, Springer, Teoscar, Chapman, Kirk etc.

My point is that we all saw what Vladdy can do just last season and if he was to return to that form for the playoffs, as long as the Jays get good enough pitching they could be borderline unstoppable.

Either way I think Vladdy will finish the season strong, as will the which will hopefully continue into the eventual posteason.
