With the MLB Trade Deadline approaching in a few weeks, I thought it would be an appropriate time to predict some trades that could be made at the deadline. Contenders all across the league are always trying to find ways to better themselves before the push for October begins, so let’s dive in.
Frankie Montas to Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers have been decimated by injuries to their starting rotation with Walker Buehler, Clayton Kershaw, and Andrew Heaney all missing time this season. Buehler has a serious injury that can keep him out of the rotation for months and with the way the roster is built, the Dodgers MUST win games. Frankie Montas is stuck in Oakland right now, but everyone's guess is that he is traded to a contender, and what better team to join than the Dodgers.
OAK trades: Frankie Montas
LAD trades: Ryan Pepiot, Jorbit Vivas, Nick Nastrini
Luis Castillo to Toronto Blue Jays
The Toronto Blue Jays have had themselves a very underwhelming season to say the least. With Hyun Jin Ryu out for the rest of the season, and Jose Berrios stinking up the joint, the Blue Jays need to make a move for a starting pitcher. Castillo would be perfect for Toronto and he can definitely help them cut into the 14.5 game lead the Yankees currently have over them in the division.

I know the Blue Jays burned through some prospects in the Matt Chapman and Jose Berrios deals, but they need to remind themselves they are in win now mode. Castillo has one more year of arbitration before becoming a UFA, so hopefully the Blue Jays can find a way to keep Castillo past next season.
CIN trades: Luis Castillo
TOR trades: Irv Carter, Samad Taylor, Bowden Francis
Josh Bell to Milwaukee Brewers
With the DH rule now in place in the National League, this now expands the amount of teams that would be interested in a player like Josh Bell. The Brewers have gotten tremendous production out of Rowdy Tellez so far this season, so Josh Bell can become their permanent DH.

In order for the Brewers to have success in the playoffs, they are going to need to go through the Braves, so they gotta match power for power. Bell is a UFA at the end of the year, so I don’t really know how much Washington will get in return, but anything is better than nothing if he were to most likely walk in free agency.
WSH trades: Josh Bell
MIL trades: Gabe Holt, Pedro Severino
Tyler Mahle to San Diego Padres
In order for the San Diego Padres to keep pace with the Los Angeles Dodgers, they are going to need to trade for reinforcements of their own. My guess is that the Cincinnati Reds finish off their fire sale from this past offseason and let Castillo and Mahle free from the torture chamber. The Padres have some decent prospects they can send Cincinnati's way, but a 4.48 ERA for Mahle will make it difficult for the Reds to land a top 10 prospect.
CIN trades: Tyler Mahle
SD trades: Matt Beaty, Matt Waldron
